Introduction

During your onboarding phase with Turtl, we encourage you to get your account as set up as possible while you have the dedicated support of our onboarding team.

Even if you don’t plan to use all available functionality during your first weeks with Turtl, getting the foundations in place will set you up for success in the future.

Some Turtl plans offer enhanced functionality which requires additional setup. We’ll talk through those in this article.

Please note: You’ll require Admin access to Turtl to configure some of the steps below.

Account setup basics (All Turtl plans)

What

Why

How

#1

Set up your Turtl account

Your account is the hub of your Turtl activity. Without it, you can’t commence the setup of anything else within this article, so it’s important to create it as soon as possible.

You’ll be provided with a link to set up your account. The whole process takes about 5 minutes. If you haven’t set up your account yet or aren’t sure how to get started, reach out to our support team.

#2

Configure your Brand Theme

Your brand theme locks down the colors, fonts, and styles of your Turtl Docs to ensure every piece of content looks consistent. It’s helpful to have this set up prior to producing any content. Learn more about Brand Themes here.

Standard Brand Themes: You’ll be able to configure this when setting up your account.

Custom Brand Theme: These take longer to configure. Your Onboarding Manager will guide you through this process.

#3

Customize your Turtl domain (CNAME)

As standard, Turtl provides you with an account domain which will always end in turtl.co e.g. mycompany.turtl.co. You can configure this domain so there’s no reference to Turtl, providing an additional level of branding.

#4

Add your policies and terms

Your account will start with default T&Cs, Privacy, and Cookie policies which are linked to from the back page of every Turtl Doc. You’ll want to update these to your own policies ASAP.

Setting your own privacy policy also allows you to start locking-down sensitive content to "Specific people only".

#5

Add tracking codes

Similarly to your website, you can add tracking codes to your Turtl Docs to capture engagement activity and send it back to other platforms. You might want to add your CRM tracking code for example to send engagement data back to your CRM.

Want to add a different tracking code? Speak to our support team.

#6

Add colleagues

Once your account is set up, start adding your colleagues. How many "full" users you can add will depend on your Turtl plan. Full users can create and publish content.

You can add as many "limited" users as you’d like free of charge. Limited users can analyze performance data and leave feedback on Docs.

Creation basics (All Turtl plans)

What

Why

How

#1

Learn how to get help and support

A core part of your account setup is ensuring your team is confident in how to create knock-out content on Turtl. Your onboarding manager will support you through this process, but there are a number of other resources you can rely on.

#2

Get signed up for training

Our live training sessions provide an opportunity for you to learn Turtl from the experts. Encourage your team to get signed up for one of our weekly sessions.

#3

Get started on your first Doc

The sooner you get started on your first Docs in Turtl, the more hands-on support you can get from our onboarding team.

#4

Explore lead capture options

Turtl Docs can be powerful lead capture machines. You can embed third-party lead capture forms from platforms such as Hubspot and Marketo so that any leads captured land directly in your CRM. Turtl won’t have visibility of these leads unless you set up a CRM integration.

If you’re not using a third-party form provider, you can add Turtl’s native lead capture forms to your Docs and export the Read data to see leads generated.

#5

Learn publishing best practice

The performance of your Turtl content relies on a solid distribution strategy. Your onboarding manager will walk you through how to share Turtl content via email, web, and social channels but we have resources to support you too.

#6

Learn how to analyze your performance insights

Turtl’s Analytics Engine is packed full of insights to help inform your content strategy. Your onboarding manager will walk you through the basics, but we have resources to support you too.

Additional steps for the Professional plan

What

Why

How

#1

Set up an SSO integration

Setting up an SSO integration:

  • Enables users to log in to Turtl using their SSO credentials

  • Allows you to lock-down Turtl content to "internal-readers" only

  • Enables you to track internal readers within the Reader dashboard

#2

Configure workspaces (up to three)

Workspaces enable you to organize your Turtl Docs into different folders with set permissions, helping to keep your account organized.

#3

Review Known Reader dashboard

The Known Reader dashboard enables you to analyze the engagement of your known readers directly within Turtl’s analytics dashboard. Known readers can be captured through:

  • Lead capture forms

  • Lead capture URLs

  • SSO integration

  • Secure content

#4

Configure a CRM integration

If you’re using third-party forms or lead capture URLs to identify known readers, a CRM integration enables you to see reader details (name and email) within Turtl’s known reader dashboard.

#5

Review Benchmark dashboard

The Benchmarks tab on the Doc dashboard enables you to understand how your Doc is performing compared to your others in your account, your industry, and the wider Turtl community.

#6

Chatbot

We can embed certain chatbots (such as Drift) into Turtl Docs to create deeper reader engagement.

Want to add a different chatbot? Speak to our support team.

What

Why

How

#1

Configure custom behavioral events

Custom behavioral events enable you to send specific Turtl reader engagement milestones to other platforms, such as your CRM. For example, you can send an event to your CRM when a reader has read a Doc for more than 5 minutes or answered a poll.

Learn more about sending custom behavioral events to Hubspot, Marketo, and Google.

Want to send custom behavioral events to a different platform? Speak to our support team.

#2

Review multi-language switcher

Enable your readers to switch between different languages on your Turtl Docs.

#3

Discuss advanced reporting options

Unlock access to additional custom reports to dive deeper into Immerse page read times.
