Think of your brand as the DNA for all your Content. Your brand’s logo, fonts, and color palette will all be applied automatically, as well as allowing you to further customize and tweak these elements.
Within the Brand Center, Admins, Global admins, and Brand Managers will have the ability to:
Upload Brand logos (in both color and white versions).
Upload Brand colors.
Upload Brand fonts (different fonts may be applied to various sections of text).
Additionally, create more than one Brand, if needed.
How to access the Brand Editor
To access your Brands, open the dropdown menu on the left-hand side of your screen and select Brands Center. From there, you can create a new Brand or edit an existing one.
How to create a new Brand or duplicate an existing one
Before you start customizing, you can either create a Brand from scratch or duplicate an existing one.
The Create new button offers expanded functionality where you can choose to create a Brand from a website, which automatically searches the website for brand elements (such as colors, fonts, and logos) and applies them to your new Brand, or from scratch if you prefer to start with a blank template.
Duplicating a Brand can save time when you only need to make small changes, such as swapping out a logo. To duplicate a theme, navigate to the Brand you’d like to duplicate, open the dropdown menu, and select Duplicate. The same dropdown also gives you the option to delete an existing Brand if you no longer need it.
Categories in the Brand Editor
Once you’ve chosen or created a Brand, the Brand Editor organizes your customization options into three categories: Essential, Styling, and Content. Each category focuses on a different aspect of your Brand, giving you control over both the fundamentals and finer details.
Essential
The Essential category covers the core building blocks of your Brand identity.
Logo
Upload both a colored and a white version of your logo, and add a hyperlink if you’d like it to direct readers to a URL. Logos automatically adapt depending on the background they appear on.
Colors
Define as many Brand colors as you need. These colors will be available throughout Turtl when customizing your content.
Fonts
Choose fonts for headings and body text. You can also upload your own custom font by opening the 3-dot menu and uploading the font family files.
How to add a custom font
You can upload your own custom fonts to use in your Brand. To do this, go to the Fonts section within the Brand Editor and click the settings cog, then select Manage brand fonts.
An Add a custom font window will appear. Click Add font to begin uploading your font.
Note: Before continuing, you’ll be asked to agree to the terms for font use. This ensures that:
You are responsible for any licensing or legal rights required to use your custom fonts in Turtl.
Turtl will store your font files for the duration of your license agreement.
Once you agree, you can name your font and upload the font family files by dragging and dropping them into the upload area or clicking to select files manually.
After uploading, set the font weight and font style (normal or italic), then click Save.
The uploaded font will appear in the Add a custom font window. From here, you can:
Add another new font
Edit the files, weight, or style of an existing font
Delete a font using the three-dot menu next to it
Once your font files have been added, they are not automatically applied to your Brand. You’ll need to go back to the Fonts section and manually select your new custom font for each area where you want it to appear — such as the Title page, Content page, and Buttons.
Your selected custom fonts will then be saved as part of your Brand theme and applied throughout your Docs.
Styling
The Styling category lets you fine-tune how interactive elements appear in your content. You can adjust the look of buttons, form fields, toolbars, and other components.
Buttons
Customize text color, background color, border color, width, and radius.
Forms
Control colors and styles for text, headings, placeholders, and error messages, as well as input fields. Input styles include text, background, and borders across default, hover, and focus states, with full control over color, width, and radius.
Toolbar
Configure the toolbar background, button colors (including hover states), and adjust logo spacing and positioning.
Miscellaneous
Define a global box radius applied to branded elements.
Content
The Content category allows you to create and manage Title page styles using predefined layouts, ensuring that every Doc opens with a consistent branded experience.
Advanced
Finally, the Advanced category is designed for users who need additional flexibility. Here, you can apply custom CSS/LESS. If you’re unsure, we recommend consulting with Customer Support before making changes.
