As of October 2024, Turtl is introducing a new editor, which enables faster creation, superior design flexibility, a simplified learning curve, and many additional use cases and features. This article outlines the grace period information and frequently asked questions regarding the transition.

Grace period

If, for some reason, you wish to switch back to the old editor - let's say you are in the middle of finishing a Doc and would like to use an editor you're more familiar with - you will have approximately one month grace period, where you can ask our friendly Customer Support to turn on the old editor back for you.

It’s important to note that the revert back to the old editor is only possible if none of the new functionality has been used that doesn’t exist in the old editor, for example, Freeform pages.

FAQs

How can I switch between Linear and Deep reading?

To switch between Linear and Deep Reading, go to "Chapter Settings" > "Navigation Settings", and select either "Linear" or "Deep reading".

How can I switch between Columns and Freeform layouts?

When you're on a Content page, you can select the "Switch to Freeform" or "Switch to Columns" option. For additional layout options, go to "Settings" > "Grid", where you can adjust the number of columns or modify grid density. For Freeform, you can select between "Flexible gaps" or "Precision" for better control.

Where can I find my widgets?

Your widgets are located under the "Add content" button. From there, you can scroll to find various widgets like text boxes, images, videos, and more.

How do I access lead generation forms on the Content pages and Back cover?

To add a lead generation form to the first Content page in the Chapter, click on the Title page, then go to "Settings" > "Add LeadGen form". From here, you can enable the form by selecting "Enable form on pages in this Chapter". You can also choose the form to be optional.

To add a lead generation form to the Back cover, click on the Back cover of your Doc, then go to "Settings" > "Add LeadGen form". From here, you can enable the form by selecting "Enable form on Back cover".

Will Docs created in the old editor still look the same?

Yes, Docs created in the old editor will appear more or less the same, as the update only affects the editor, not the viewer. However, Docs created with the new editor will have more design flexibility, including options for columns, enhanced navigation, and new widget features, which will be mirrored on the outside as well.

How will Freeform pages work with screen readers?

The accessible version of your Doc will function as before. The reading order for screen readers is based on the order of content in the Content page editor, not on the viewer’s layout (such as columns), so the experience for screen readers remains unchanged.

Can I edit old Docs in the new editor?

Yes, you can! To edit a Doc created in the old editor, find the Doc in your saved workspace and edit it as usual.
