Let readers personalize their content and collect high quality data

A clear, practical guide to letting readers personalize content while capturing high-quality lead data in the background.

Updated today

Goal

Give readers a more interactive and personalized content experience while capturing lead data in the background to power demand generation and sales follow-up.

Before you begin

This playbook is designed to spark ideas and provide the practical details you need to understand how a campaign will play out - what’s supported, how it functions, and what to plan for. Pick the steps that fit your objectives, and mix or adapt approaches from other playbooks to create campaigns that suit your goals and tech stack.

This diagram presents a high-level overview of the playbook, illustrating each step and the integrations supported along the way. The article then explores each step in more detail.

Step 1: Create content in Turtl

Start by creating your content in Turtl using Hatch AI to speed up production and sharpen your messaging. Many teams use this approach to build personalised guides in a quiz or assessment format - such as “Is your marketing stack optimised?” - designed to adapt based on each reader’s input.

Readers personalise their own experience by answering a short series of questions. In exchange for receiving their tailored results or guide, they complete a form that captures their contact details. This creates a clear value exchange: readers get relevant, customised content, and you generate qualified leads based on their responses.

Step 2: Set up personalization and lead capture form

Supported Integrations

  • HubSpot

  • Marketo

  • Pardot

Once you’ve defined how readers will personalise their experience, prepare your content accordingly. Use personalization tokens to replace generic text and images with targeted content, and apply page rules to control which chapters or pages appear based on each reader’s selections. Then build your personalization form, setting up the fields and logic that power both the tokens and page rules.

Next, create a matching lead-capture form in your CRM to store the data you want to track (maybe name, email or company for example), and connect it to your Turtl personalization form. Any information readers submit will flow directly into your CRM, just as if they’d completed the form there.

Step 3: Share across channels

Share your content widely across your website, social channels, and any other top-of-funnel routes to maximize visibility. Turtl provides ready-made share assets and supports UTM tracking so you can measure which channels are performing best.

As readers engage, they’ll complete the personalization form you set up in Step 2 and instantly receive a refined version of the content based on their answers. When they submit the form, their details are automatically added to your CRM as a new contact.

Step 4: Learn about your audience

Once readers engage with your content, Turtl captures their activity in your analytics dashboards.

  • Known Readers: Because readers must complete the lead-capture form before accessing the content, every reader will be a Known Reader. With CRM integration enabled, Turtl can display their name and email directly in your dashboards.

  • Accounts [Coming soon]: Soon you’ll be able to view engagement at the account level, not just by individual readers. Turtl will automatically detect accounts using IP data, giving you visibility into which companies are interacting with your content.

Step 5: Monitor content performance and audience intent in Dashboards

As more readers engage with your content, the analytics dashboards help you understand what’s resonating and what needs attention. The analytics give you fast, practical signals for optimization, and the built-in AI chatbot helps you transform that data into clear recommendations you can act on to improve future performance and maximize ROI.

Key data points to watch:

  • Total Reads / Readers: Reach and top-of-funnel exposure

  • Top Contacts: Personalizations generating the strongest engagement

  • Bounce Rate: Relevance, initial impact and distribution success

  • Engagement Score / Avg. Read Time: Resonance and effectiveness

  • Section Performance: Identify high-performing topics or content areas

Step 6: Sync intent data to external platforms

Supported Integrations

  • HubSpot

  • Marketo

  • Pardot

  • DemandBase

  • 6Sense

At this point, your personalized content is generating intent you can act on.

By syncing detailed Turtl engagement and interaction data into your existing platforms, you make that insight available where teams already work, so it can inform prioritisation, outreach, and targeting without manual effort.

Turtl supports syncing intent data into platforms such as HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot, Demandbase, and 6sense. Exactly what can be synced depends on the specific platform.

Step 7: See Revenue impact in Turtl Dashboards

Supported Integrations

  • HubSpot

  • Salesforce and Dynamics (with Turtl Support)

As contacts move through your buyer journey and get linked to opportunities or deals in your CRM, use Turtl’s Revenue Dashboard to see how their content engagement contributes to pipeline and revenue. Hatch AI helps you dig into the data, showing which content is driving momentum, surfacing patterns behind successful deals, and helping you repeat what’s working so you can maximize ROI.
